Essay #2
Describe your key leadership experiences and evaluate what leadership areas you hope to develop through your MBA experiences (600 word limit).
This essay is giving me a real tough time. 15 drafts later i still feel that my response to this essay SUCKSSS!!! I have interesting and impactful anecdotes to share but i am unable to narrate them in an effective manner.
I am feeling like a dumb who knows the taste of chocolate but can't explain it...and word limit is also not helping me in this case. I am over-shooting the word limit by well over 16%. I am sharing only 2 experiences and still not able to wrap up my response within the word limit. Someone please teach me the art of crisp writing....
hey, maybe you could try Kaneisha at www.theartofapplying.com. She is a Harvard grad of class 2010 and has a great reputation of crafting perfect essays for top B schools. Maybe you could schedule a talk with her and see if she could be of help to you.

Hope you are linking 'what L areas you hope to develop' to your short term goals and also to the leverage you'd get with Kellogg's strength areas to cite people focus, group dynamics, etc

ReplyDeleteBTW are you applying to 2Y or the MMM and I have read elsewhere a 10% shoot up is acceptable with Kellogg.
@Sh00nya -- applying to 2y.. :) .. different sources suggest diff %age for off-shooting the prescribed limits but i dont want to take the chance...will try and limit my answers to word limits...though i am unable to do so till now...:) ...wat abt you?? which schools??

I am struggling with my first attempt.
@Anon -- it takes a lot of time to put together essays for 1st school...but once u re done with introspection part things become easy ....once plot is finalized.....u need to work hard on narrative only
ReplyDeletei am keen on MMM, Tuck and Wharton are the other two, researching two more schools probably for R2. i've been moving at a snail's pace hope to gather some steam in the next few weeks.
